Our Story

A name, a family,
a bowl of love.

Mai Ramen was born from a simple idea โ€” take the instant ramen we all grew up with, and make it something worth celebrating. Named after a beloved Hmong girl's name.

The Name

Mai โ€” more than
just a name.

In Hmong culture, Mai is one of the most beloved names for a girl โ€” warm, bright, and full of spirit. For the Herr family, it represents everything they wanted this place to feel like: welcoming, joyful, and a little bit home.

When Maysee Herr and her family set out to open their first restaurant in Milwaukee, the name chose itself. Mai Ramen isn't just a noodle shop โ€” it's a love letter to the family that built it.
